Ken Boyce is Principal Engineer Manager – Energy at UL LLC. Ken has over 25 years of experience in safety engineering across a wide range of product sectors including high tech, appliances, industrial equipment, and innovative products.  Most recently he has served as the technical manager for energy technologies, overseeing standards development and technical operations for renewable energy, batteries and energy storage, electric vehicle, and other equipment.  Ken is active in the standards and code development community, and is leading work to develop safety requirements for products containing button and coin cell batteries. Ken is active in consumer safety efforts and serves as the Vice Chairman of UL’s Consumer Advisory Council. He works closely with US National Laboratories, including leading a number of significant research projects.  Ken holds an engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, is a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, and is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at UL.
